What's an outlier video?

A video that got far more views than its channel normally gets. Big channels get big views on almost everything, so raw views don't tell you much. Outliers show you what actually beat expectations.

How is the outlier score calculated?

We divide a video's views by the median views of uploads in the same format (Shorts or long-form) among the channel's last 20 uploads. That may be fewer than 20 videos per format. A score of 10X means ten times that channel's typical views for that format. When a median isn't available, we show views ÷ subscribers as a separate backup signal, if the subscriber count is available.

Why the median, not the average?

One viral video can drag an average way up and make everything else look weak. The median shows what a typical video on that channel really gets.

What counts as a breakout?

A score of 3X or more is the breakout threshold used for watchlist alerts and outlier examples. Search results can also show videos below 3X; use the score filter to focus on breakouts.

Why are Shorts and long-form scored separately?

Shorts and longer uploads get different view counts, even on the same channel. The channel median compares Shorts (up to 60 seconds) with Shorts and longer uploads with longer uploads. Search results also offer four duration filter buckets: Shorts, under 4 minutes, 4–20 minutes and 20+ minutes. Those four filters are not four separate scoring baselines.

Can I see how a score was worked out?

Yes. Open the score breakdown on a result to see the video's views, the channel median and the maths, or the subscriber count when a median isn't available. Up to 10 recent same-format sample uploads appear when available.

Does a high score guarantee my video will do well?

Accepted Answer

No. An outlier shows that an idea, title or thumbnail worked for that channel, at that time. It's a strong signal worth learning from, not a promise of results.

Why can't I find a video?

Accepted Answer

YouTube returns up to 50 results per search, so try more specific keywords. Date, Shorts/long-form, language and region settings can narrow results; on-page view, channel-size, score and duration filters can hide matches too. Very new videos may not rank in YouTube search yet. Search results are cached for six hours, so recently published videos or changed view counts may take time to appear. A hidden subscriber count only removes the subscriber-based signal; it does not necessarily prevent a median score.

Why does a video show a different view count from YouTube?

To keep searches fast and within YouTube's limits, we cache search results and video details for up to six hours (channel details for up to 24 hours). View counts can lag behind YouTube.

How do niche presets work?

The current quick-start presets fill in Chelsea FC, Premier League transfer news or Bangkok vlog. Pick one to start a search, or type any topic to explore your own niche.

Can I filter by language or region?

Yes. Choose a language or country/region before searching. YouTube uses those settings to shape results, and we also filter videos by detected language when you choose one. A region setting is not a guarantee that every result was filmed there.

Do repeat searches count towards my limit?

A search served from the shared six-hour results cache doesn't count towards your search allowance. A search that fetches fresh data does. Short-term request-rate protections still apply.

Why is search paused or showing cached results only?

On rare busy days we can approach YouTube's daily data limit. New uncached searches are paused to protect the service, while recent cached results remain available. The daily limit resets in UTC.

Boards let you save breakout videos, titles and hooks. Add notes and tags, view items as a list, thumbnail wall or kanban board, and move ideas from Idea to Published.

Can I share a board?

Yes. Turn on sharing in a board's settings for a read-only public link. Public boards show saved video details and titles/hooks but not your private notes and tags.

How does the thumbnail critique work?

Upload a thumbnail and provide your video topic. AI compares it with reference thumbnails for your topic when available, or with general best practice otherwise. You get an overall score, criteria covering text, colour, face or emotion, composition, clutter and reference comparisons, plus strengths and suggested fixes. If scoring fails after a retry, you'll be asked to try again.

Add channels to your watchlist. Scheduled scans look for recent videos scoring at least 3X the channel's own recent Shorts or long-form median, when available. You can opt in to a weekly email digest of new breakouts.

Yes. The Free plan is free forever. It lists a daily search allowance and monthly thumbnail critique and title-generation allowances.

What are the usage limits on each plan?

The published plan allowances are: Free: 5 searches per day, 2 critiques per month, 5 title and hook generations per month; Creator: 300 searches per month, 30 critiques per month, 100 title and hook generations per month; Pro: 1000 searches per month, 100 critiques per month, 500 title and hook generations per month; Agency: 3000 searches per month, 300 critiques per month, 1500 title and hook generations per month. Monthly allowances reset on the 1st of each month (UTC); Free searches reset daily (UTC). Usage is tracked, but plan allowance blocking is currently switched off. Short-term request-rate and global safety limits still apply.

What happens if I hit my limit?

Your usage appears on the Billing page and beside each tool. Plan allowance blocking is currently switched off, so reaching the displayed plan allowance does not stop you yet. Short-term request-rate and service-wide safety limits can still pause requests.

Free is a place to start. Creator suits individual creators; Pro includes kanban and board insights; Agency is aimed at client research. Plan-specific feature restrictions are not currently enforced, so compare the published plan details before subscribing.

How does the free trial work?

Your boards, notes and searches are private unless you choose to share a board. Shared boards expose saved videos and titles/hooks, not private notes. We don't sell your data.

Do you use my thumbnails to train AI?

No. Uploaded thumbnails are sent to our AI provider to generate your critique. Under its commercial terms, the provider does not use this data to train its models.
